Dr. Muhammad Shakir, MD

Dr. Shakir is a medical graduate of Aga Khan University, Pakistan. After completing his medical degree, he did a one-year clinical internship at Aga Khan University Hospital. He then served as an Academic Associate at the Pakistan Academy of Neurological Surgery and later as a Research Associate at the Center for Oncological Research in Surgery at Aga Khan University.

Dr. Shakir has also volunteered remotely with the Program for Global Surgery and Social Change and with Duke Global Neurosurgery and Neurology on global neurological research. He is currently the core imaging lab manager for CHESS trial at the University of Missouri, USA, and is pursuing residency in the USA.

Dr. Shakir has authored over 65 peer-reviewed publications and co-authored a clinical guideline on the management of chronic subdural hematoma with the Society of Vascular and Interventional Neurology. He is also an active volunteer reviewer for several peer-reviewed neurology and neurosurgery journals.

Dr. Shakir's work at the Zeenat Qureshi Stroke Institute (ZQSI) has further enriched his experience. The institute, renowned for its contributions to stroke and neurovascular diseases, provides him with the opportunity to work on several important research projects in stroke and neuroimaging under the mentorship of Dr. Adnan I. Qureshi. This experience deepens his involvement in groundbreaking research that improves stroke care and deepens understanding of neurovascular diseases.
